Synergistic toxicity of triethylene thiophosphoramide and folic acid in the IRC-741 leukemia.

چکیده
The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of folie acid or vitamin B-12 on the course of the IRC 741 rat leukemia treated with thioTEPA. On the first day im mediately following tumor implantation into Fischer rats individual series of these ani mals were given 6 mg/kg thioTEPA, in a single injection, or 1 mg/kg, every other day for six doses without and with simultaneous injections of folie acid or vitamin B-12. ThioTEPA alone, in multiple doses, increased the rat survival time, but these animals eventually died of leukemia. ThioTEPA in a single injection, although more toxic, nev ertheless produced remissions consistent with experimental cure. The most important observation, however, was that the concomitant administration of folie acid and a single dose of thioTEPA was associated with premature death of all animals so treated, sug gesting that under certain experimental conditions folie acid may interfere with the ameliorative or curative properties of this particular antileukemic agent. Vitamin B-12 appeared inactive in this experimental system.

The Toxicity of Thorium Oxide Nanoparticles Conjugated with Folic acid and Antibody on the Mononuclear Cells from Patients with Chronic lymphoid Leukemia and Normal Persons
Background and Aims: The aim of this study was to synthesize antibody-conjugated radioactive(thorium oxide) nanoparticles (ACRNPs) and folic acid-conjugated radioactive nanoparticles (FACRNPs). Materials and Methods: After synthesis of nanoparticles, blood samples from CLL patients and normal subjects were obtained, and their mononuclear cells were isolated by Ficoll method. To evaluate cyto...
متن کاملPREVENTIVE EFFECTS OF VITAMIN B12 AND FOLIC ACID IN METHANOL-INDUCED RETINOPATHY IN AN ANIM AL MODEL
In order to identify the effects of vitamin B 12 and folic acid in reducing methanolinduced retinopathy, ERG waves were compared before and after methanol intoxication in rabbits. In this study 34 rabbits were divided into 4 groups. All groups received 4 g/kg of methanol intraperitoneally. In addition, the second, third and fourth groups received vitamin B 12 injection, oral folic acid and ...

متن کاملChanges of cell cycle affecting cidal effect of triethylene thiophosphoramide on cultured human bladder carcinoma cells.
The cell cycle of the human bladder carcinoma cell line (MGH-U1 cells) was prolonged immediately after low dose of triethylene thiophosphoramide (Thio Tepa). Although the elongated cell cycle time seemed to return to the control level 48 hr following the treatment, there still remained postsynthetic accumulation and postmitotic diminution in the cell population and the cells were insensitive to...
متن کاملInvestigation of cytotoxicity properties of zinc oxide nanoparticles in spherical and rod shaped on leukemia cells
In this study, we reported a method to associate doxorubicin drug on folic acid functionalized SiO2/ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) in rod and spherical shapes. The clinical usage of the anticancer drug, doxorubicin (DOX), is limited by severe side effects and cell resistance. Targeted drug delivery by binding DOX to nanoparticles could overcome these limitations. The surface functionalization of the Z...
